Illustration Friday: BLUE
I was searching through old photos to see if something would spark a thought and out came a little picture of my little boy at the hospital emergency room. So sad. When my son was 2 I accidentally shut the car door on his hand. There's not a more horrible feeling than hurting your own child. He and I both were pretty blue. I thought..."what a horrible mother I am." It's not a fun feeling.

Very sweet capture of the moment.
ReplyDeleteReally cute. Yes, it always is a blue moment when you accidentally hurt your child, like an elbow to the forhead, or mowing them over when they stand right behind you.... ohhhhh... I'm a terrible dad.
ReplyDeleteOhh...I can feel his sadness by looking to his eyes..very sweet illo.

ReplyDeleteyou have captured his ouchie and your pain so well. i love the expression of looking at you from under his eyebrows, very lovely, soft and sweet. i still feel guilty about letting my daughter do a face plant on our sidewalk almost a year ago. ;)

ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteYour illustrations are delightful and the colors so vibrant. I too shut my son's fingers in the van door when he was 9. I was so horrified and sad, he was hurt too and wondered how I could have done that. I fel the same way and it just broke my heart.
I love this picture! It looks just like him, and you captured the moment so well!
